This policy explains how mneurix.dev uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them.

What is a cookie

A cookie is a small file stored on your device by your browser. We use cookies/local storage only where necessary to operate the site and, on content pages, to serve and measure advertising.

Cookies we use

• Essential. Minimal storage required to run the site (including remembering your cookie choice).
• Advertising (Google AdSense). On content pages (the hub, /play, /mind, /core, the blog except the neuro section), Google's adsbygoogle.js may set cookies for ad serving, frequency capping, and measurement. See Google's Ads & cookies policy. Policy and 404 pages, and the blog's neuro section, do not load any advertising scripts.
• Analytics — none. Our page-view analytics is GoatCounter, which is cookie-less by design: it sets no cookie, writes nothing to local storage, and does not track you across sites. It therefore appears in no cookie category here.

Consent — all visitors

Analytics runs without consent because it sets no cookie and processes no personal data — there is nothing for the banner to gate. Only advertising is consent-gated.

We show a first-party cookie banner to all visitors. The Google AdSense script only loads after you choose Accept. If you choose Decline, the advertising script is not loaded and no advertising cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser (local storage) for about 12 months and applies across the site. The banner links here for the details.

The two server-side scoring exceptions

Nearly everything on MNEURIX runs entirely in your browser. Two kinds of self-reflection tools send answers once to our scoring endpoints, and both store nothing:

• Personality scoring. The Big Five and Jungian self-reflection tools send your answers once to compute your results, then discard them — no answers are stored, logged, or profiled anywhere.
• Unmasking-suite scoring. The unmasking tools (Camouflage Profile, Preference Map, Signal Decoder, Early-Warning Tracker, Energy Ledger, Unmasking Ladder, Interest & Flow Map) send your answers once for interpretation, then discard them — same rule: nothing stored, logged, or profiled.

Every other tool — sensory, regulation, communication, play, and the developer utilities — is fully local: nothing leaves your device at all. One browser-engine exception, disclosed on the tool's own page: in Chrome and other Chromium browsers, the Voice Transcriber's speech recognition sends audio to Google's speech service — that is how Chrome's engine is built. In Firefox it runs on-device. We add no storage, logging, or upload of our own either way.

Visitors in the EEA & UK

If you've turned on Google's Consent Management Platform message in our AdSense settings, EEA/UK visitors may see a second consent step after accepting ours; we recommend relying on the first-party banner as the single consent mechanism. Either way, no advertising cookies are set without your acceptance.

Visitors outside the EEA & UK (incl. South Africa)

POPIA requires notice and an opt-out for direct-marketing-style processing. Our cookie banner provides that notice and a one-click Decline opt-out that prevents the advertising script from loading. You can also opt out of personalised advertising via Google Ads Settings.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking advertising cookies doesn't stop the site from working — you simply won't see personalised ads. To change your choice here, clear this site's storage in your browser settings — look for mneurix.dev under "Cookies and site data" — and the banner will reappear on your next visit. No hurry either way: your choice is remembered for about 12 months, after which the banner returns on its own so you can choose again.
